Read Monday, Thursday & Shabbat, and dating to the time of the Babylonian captivity, public Torah reading mostly followed an annual cycle beginning on Simhat Torah, with the Torah divided into 54 weekly portions. Division of portions is based on the list provided by Maimonides based on the Aleppo Codex.
