Isfahan - אצפהאן

Isfahan is a Persian maqam (a staple turksih repertoire as well).

Location: Isfahan is a city in Iran. South of Tehran.  

Lower jins using both Rast on D-duqah and Bayat on D-duqah, upper jins Nahawand on G-Nawa. sayir: develop nahawand on G-nawa, then descend to bayat on d-duqah (which forms the regular scale of bayat), while in jins bayat, alternate with rast on d-duqah (or descend to rast on d-duqah first and alternate with bayat), then ascend back up to nahawand on G-nawa. isfahan is known for its emphasis of the sigah note (in the instance where we use rast on duqah, alternating from bayat on duqah), and 99 percent of the time isfahan will end up closing bayat
